Abstract

Navigational routes and waypoints forming the main BAS air travel network in Antarctica.

This record always reflects the current state of the travel network dataset held in the BAS Operations Data Store as defined by BAS Air Unit Pilots.

Routes and waypoints are available in a range of formats for different use cases:

  • network waypoints and per-route FPL files for Garmin aircraft GPS devices
  • network waypoints and routes GPX file for use hand-held GPS devices
  • network waypoints PDF file for printing
  • network waypoints as CSV files in decimal degrees (DD) and degrees decimal minutes (DDM) notation for further processing

Outputs are restricted to selected BAS operational teams. Authorised users should login with their BAS LDAP (South) account.

Data and associated workflows are managed and maintained by the Mapping and Geographic Information Centre (MAGIC) on behalf of the BAS Air Unit.
