Abstract
This single-sided geological map covers Adelaide Island of the western Antarctic Peninsula. On Adelaide Island, 150 km to the north of Alexander Island, a 2 – 3 km succession of turbiditic coarse sandstones and volcanic rocks are exposed. The revised stratigraphy of Adelaide Island includes five volcanic/sedimentary formations alongside a suite of granitoids and gabbros of the Adelaide Island Intrusive suite. The oldest formation is the Buchia Buttress Formation, which has been dated at 149.5 ± 1.4 Ma and is correlated with the Late Jurassic sedimentary rocks of Alexander Island.
The map includes a geological cross section across the southern sector of the island, including the Wright Peninsula.
